In 1881 he was living in a Cottage at the rear of the School Building, Ockham, Surrey with his wife, son and daughter. He was 65 years old and a Schoolmaster. Also living with them was his granddaughter, Ada Harrop, aged 2 from Bath, Somerset.

In 1891 he was living in Crondall, Hampshire with his second wife Emily. He was 74 years old and a Photographer and Piano Tuner. Also living with them was Herbert J. Wigley, aged 21, unmarried, a Nursery Gardener from Alton, Hampshire.

In 1901 he was living in Princess Cottage, High Street, Fleet, Hampshire with his second wife. He was 84 years old and a Photographer and described as Feeble Minded.
